I don't get it

This dog, named Vasya, apparently, from the name under his tail, is the subject of this car/shrine. I'm not sure I get it.

Greatest Hits

These Musicians are belting out "Chorvona Ruta" which is one of the greatest Ukrainian classic songs of all time. It's my favorite Ukrainian national song.

"Chorvona Ruta" was written by a Ukrainian musician who later died unexpectedly. Many people think he got too political and was killed.

I like it

These guys were fun, especially the guy playing the piano-clarinet cross-breed.

Vadya and Friend

Vadya from Cherkasy was one of the last volunteers in the camp.

We get a free concert

While all the big-time officials were having a dance somewhere (possibly in the hotel in the background) us mensches got a free concert and fireworks. Pretty good deal.

The musician on the screen is Taras Chubay, the lead singer of Plach Eremiy. It is one of the best Ukrainian bands out there. They do a lot of rock and ballads, but not ballad rock like the kind of stuff that would make you think of the Scorpions.

I was impressed by the number of older people willing to hang with the young concertgoers. Rock on Babushki!
