New Site Page: List of Philanthropic Ideas

Hello, everyone! At long last I've finally gotten up an initial list of philanthropic causes in Ukraine. I hope to greatly expand the list over time, but to do that I'm going to need your help.

At present the page is divided into organizations for which I have personal recommendations (either mine, or one's that have been made to me), and ones for which I do not yet have such recommendations. So, if you know of a name, but don't know if it's a good cause, or you know of an organization you would personally vouch for, or if you would like to recommend one of the organizations I don't have a recommendation for currently, please make your recommendation in the comments section of this entry.

Thank you for any ideas you have to share, and I hope you find the new page useful.

Thank you for listing our organization! We partner with Ukrainian International NGO ChildRescue. If anyone ever has any questions about us, please feel free to email me! Thanks!

Hi,

I know of two very good religious organizations working in Ukraine. One is Mission Without Borders. It is large, well organized, and has been working for nearly 45 years in Eastern Europe. The other is called Open Arms Ukraine. It is small and just getting started but is run by a group of young women who care greatly about young children and teens in desperate situations. Both groups are concerned with caring for orphans and children in need and I would trust them to do a great job.

I have the greatest respect for two small organisations in Ukraine. One is Sergey Kostin's Way Home which is well known in the development community and could do with a lot more support for the work it does with homeless and HIV postive youth. The other is Happy Child run by Albert Pavlov a dedicated and courageous young man working to support Zaporzhye's children's homes.

Both native Ukrainians, for me they stand out as shining examples of making social commi tment without weighing the personal cost or benefit.

FORZA stands for "Swiss-Ukrainian Forest Development Project in Transcarpathia". It originated from the Swiss-Ukrainian collaboration (Humanitarian Aid Department of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)) in natural disaster relief and reconstruction after the floods of 1998 and 2001. This gave rise to the forestry project. It was launched in 2003 with an anticipated duration of 7-9 years.
