If I were King of the forest! (until then will say anything to get ahead)
"Ukraine’s President Viktor Yushchenko attended a meeting of the cabinet of ministers Friday, for the first time in the past two years." (Itar-Tass)
Must read story from Mirror Weekly in english !
================================
Reading the news has reminded me of the classic film and book - "The Wizard of Oz" as the transformations featured (lion got courage, tinman got a heart, scarecrow got a brain) are mild, tepid, little-tempest-in-a-teapot tritisms in comparison to the twists and turns, leaps and bounds that Yanukovych is pursuing in order to make the Party fo Regions palatable to the Our Ukraine tongue (sidenote: play on RU word tongue which also means language, but I digress.)
Yanukovych is now quoting Yushchenko's words in speeches! (what would it be called - Yuschenisms???)
A joke circulated after some Party of Regions members bounced from speaking Russian to Ukrainian, and there were collective words that 'see PoR can change/learn, they are not all bad, ...'
The joke very wisely sounded a cautious warning as it pointed out that should it provide a competitive advantage, PoR would speak Mongolian.
(It is also a funny jab esp. as at PoR rallies and events, Serduchka of "lasha tumbai" fame performed.)

Cowardly Lion: [singing] If I were king of the fore-e-e-est / Not queen, not duke, not prince / My royal robes of the fore-e-e-est / Would be satin, not cotton, not chintz / I'd command each thing, whether fish or fowl / With a r-r-ruff and a r-r-ruff, and a royal growl - R-R-Ruff! / As I click my heels / All the trees would kneal / And the mounains bow / And the bulls kowtow / And the sparrow would take wing / If I, if I were ki-i-i-i-ng! / The rabbits would show respect to me / The chipmunks genuflect to me / Though my tail would lash / I would show compash / For every underling / If I, if I were king / Just ki-i-i-i-ing!
