going off ofthe below tabulations of percentages, it seems that the Oranges are less than desperate for Lytvyn's bloc and so they shd be able to pick their own leaders for the top two positions.

A little off-topic - a separate thread, perhaps? -- but I have some ideas abouot constitutional reform.
It seems to me that the bad part of the current system .., having separate centers of power in the PM's and President's offices, is greatly ouotweighed by the decentralization of power that the system brings with it.
Sure, it is messy, but on the other hand, doesn't it act as a safeguard against the establishment of a strong-man regime in Ukraine?
Today, Yushchenklo wants stronger Presidential powers. In the future -- say if Yanu or someone like him wins the next presidential election -- the Oranges may wish the Presidency did not have so much power.

News flash: Yushchenko wants a "broad coalition" to include Regions.

Here we go again.

Today in his address in regards to forming coalition Yushchenko said that he expects from PoR, BYT, OU-PSD, and Lytvyn Bloc smart moves to the consolidation of the country and calls for the victors in the Parliamentary elections to unite around national priorities.

(My comment ---- it is open to interpretation but basicly it is call to start talks regarding coalition formation which is good based on how political leaders have made statements about holding off on any talks until AFTER official announcement of election results. At over 99% votes counted it makes sense to start negotiating as well as under the pronouncements made from Gazprom. Makes sense not to waste time.)

"Як повідомляв УНІАН, сьогодні у своїй заяві щодо формування коаліції Віктор ЮЩЕНКО сказав, що очікує від Партії регіонів, БЮТ, НУ-НС і Блоку Литвина мудрих кроків до консолідації країни і закликав переможців парламентських виборів об`єднатися навколо національних пріоритетів."

Yushchenko mentioned priorities for new govt - economic growth, stop growth of prices, inc. consumer confidence, get rid of deputy immunity and privileges, pass packet of anti-corruption laws, creation of Anticorruption bureau, and he announces that the law will be the same for everyone.
