My Thanks To Everyone For Your Understanding

nano_2006_winner_small.gifWell, it's November 30. And thirty minutes ago, I got one of these:

Thank you to all you readers out there for your understanding and patience during my long silence here. I really enjoyed taking part in the novel writing event, and will hopefully do something with my resulting 50,055 word novel (after I cut out and replace the approximately 25,000 words of crap).

Cheers, everyone.

So, what was it about? Care to give us the 20-words-or-less summary?

Here's a bit of good news...

http://www.mcc.gov/countries/ukraine/index.php

Ukraine was named eligible for Millennium Challenge Compact assistance on November 8, 2006.

According to the WaPo, they're giving 45 million to Ukraine for two years to combat corruption.

Ouch that is actually bad news because it will all end up getting stolen and nothing changes. Unless they put in really good oversight policies. But just giving $ is not a solution.

I think this repeats what Dan already posted about some, but it is worth reading.

IIU: Thanks, but "gifted" is something I only get when and if I get published. Right now, the only new title I can claim is "prolific". :)

The story is a humorous fantasy, because I thought that would be the fastest/most enjoyable to write.

petro: "Robigus"

R. Smith: How about seventy words?:
Hexter Polyp is fourth-generation hero, and thanks to an evil wizard, he is also a foundling. Perfect hero material.

However, the previous family heroes were mom, grandma, and great-grandma, making their magical items a bit… awkward for him. And a foundling could have had more auspicious adopted parents than Herbert and Gertrude Polyp, the world’s nicest pawnbrokers.

How’s a boy to reach his heroic destiny under such conditions?
