So perhaps the Lily Revolution then?

You ready for this?

In this little rant in the Daily Telegraph submissions section (at the very end, entitled "Be Watchful"), the author complains about a huge problem with the Orange Revolution: the people demostrating in Kyiv are all white.

How is it possible that the millions of protesters could have been so thoughtless they forgot to be multiracial?

Even more importantly: Why did all the black voters stay home in villages throughout Ukraine, and what does this say about Yushchenko's supposedly nationwide support base?

Lesya suggests that it is probably true that Ukrainians' predominant whiteness "reflects their misfortune"; The next government must expend every effort to create a nationwide network of government sponsored tanning salons.

"government sponsored tanning salons"

LOL.... Lord, what a looney lot the Londoners!

Besides - the post is just flat wrong - there's lots of Ukrainian men that are sometimes black... here's just one!

Sheesh! Looks like we Chicagoans pay better attention to British press than the Brits do!

See this photo in BBC photo archive:

Wow, motria. I wonder where that pic came from. In my four years in Ukraine, all the Blacks and Asians I met were (as far as I knew, and I mostly knew pretty well) foreign citizens studying or working in Ukraine.

However, I did know one or two Ukrainians who married foreign citizens of color. Their children (perhaps like the man in the picture) would bring a touch of color to the peoplescape.

England is swirling down the toilet bowl. Another couple of turns and it will be able to catch a glimpse of France and Germany. Welcome Ukraine, to the coalition of the sane. You'll be suprised to find how small it is.

Whoa folks! No giving swirlies to the British on my watch here! As far as I know, this is one article that looks like it is a letter-to-the-editor kind of thing, and from the identification of the sender by handle instead of name, I assume that this was an email-to-the-editor.

I am fully willing to believe the Times ran in good fun, the same reason I did. Moonbats aren't just the property of one country, they're free for all of us to share!

Oh. My.

The idea that photographers ought to have looked for "diversity" shots to show the future of a better Ukraine blows my mind. How manufactured.

Have none of you people heard of irony?
This was typical English Daily Telegraph humour.
