Squarespace problems - resolved!

[Coming back the next day when I can think again]
We took a step backward here at Orange Ukraine, but now we're back. Squarespace accidentally let their automatic system shut down the site for a couple hours without warning, and in the process cut all access to the site off. My apologies for the interruption.

We compounded the problems by fiddling with our purchase plan and scrapping the spiffy new look Lesya had put up in the process. Lesyawent and hid in the closet and i had to tempt her back out with lots of chocolate.

Ok, update time: The Squarespace people had heart failure about the site problems here yesterday.  Lesya had to redo the whole look, but their support guy stuck with us for FIVE STRAIGHT HOURS until everything was back to normal.

In the meantime, they made the following changes at Squarespace so our problem never happens again:

1) If you're site's doing well and exceeds bandwith limits, you get lots of warnings well in advance. In addition, they promised to put people on every site shutdown issue from now on, so people won't accidentally not get notified like happened with us.

2) If you reactivate your site at anything except the Advanced setting (the setting you get for free the first month, so long as you don't hit that bandwidth limit) then you lose your cool layout settings. Squarespace just put ina new warning system to make sure you know exactly what functionality you will lose at Basic or Standard plans.

Seeing the situation in the light of day (after some sleep) I'm really thankful they worked so hard to help us out of our situation. So thanks, guys.  Lesya and I really appreciate it.

If it's any consolation, I loved your (with Lesya's design) and Neeka's Backlog the best. Easy to read and very colorful descriptions. Of course the layout helps a lot. Anyway, everyone in Kiev and Ukraine has our prayers. Skhid ta zakhid razom!

The design is back! It took a bunch more work, but Squarespace sorted us out. And thanks for the prayer, I will add it to mine. :) God answers prayer and loves justice. May he not hide his face from Ukraine.

You know, you guys have outdone yourselves yet again! I loved the last design, yet this one is miles better!

Just proves that sometimes, even if someone messes something up (whether on purpose or accidentally) if one seizes that as an opportunity instead of a drawback it might end up making things better than the first time around. (Which doesn't mean to say that we have to all thank those responsible for attempting to steal the election, but in hindsight, it has been a heaven-sent opportunity to make everyone pull together! Why, even Pinchuk was touched by the crowds! . "I said, 'If I were still a student, I would be here myself.' " he told the New York Times at http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/02/international/europe/02oligarch.html.
